The Wentworth Project is a seven-story building located near the village of Wentworth, Quebec, 56 miles (90 km) northwest of Montreal. It is built on a rocky, steeply sloping site that was considered "unbuildable" by local contractors.

Planning for the project started in 1988, and construction got underway on October 6, 1990.

The Wentworth Project is a living laboratory where we test in real time and scale many innovative technologies for cost-effective energy efficiency. The project is a proof of concept for several integrated systems that work together to minimize the building's environmental impact and energy usage.

The lessons we learn in this project are transferred for wider trials in our member's homes. Once we are satisfied that all potential problems are dealt with to our satisfaction, we publicize our results to interested members of the public.
