Interior Layout

Planet-Era's 10+ years of research and development in cost-effective energy efficiency has produced a room layout that is literally reversed from the conventional home design. This produces an interior layout that is safer and more energy-efficient.

Since the Wentworth Project is on an unusual lot, visitors enter on the sixth floor, instead of the ground floor. Family rooms are above the bedrooms, instead of below. And integrated workspaces greatly reduce the need for commuting.

The traditional layout, with bedrooms on the upper level, kills 8 Canadians a week in fires. Rising smoke traps families by making their home's corridors impenetrable - and toxic; blinding smoke can kill in three breaths.

Layouts that incorporate a workspace into the home have a measurable impact on a family's discretionary income as well as profound implications for parent-child relations.

The cocooning trend is growing quickly due to the microchip-consumer electronics revolution. Today's technology enables an individual or family to live and work from home, as most independent artisans and craftspeople did until the Industrial Revolution. Therefore, our home designs should be modified to account for this new reality.
